Camp Swatara's Board of Trustees is pleased to announce the appointment of Eric Miller as the organization's new Executive Director, effective October 19, 2026.

Following an extensive search process led by the Executive Director Search Committee, the Board is excited to welcome Eric into this important leadership role. He brings a strong background in nonprofit management, organizational leadership, and Christian ministry, along with a lifelong personal connection to Camp Swatara.

For Eric, this new role represents a homecoming.

Eric grew up attending family camp at Camp Swatara and later served two summers on the counseling staff. Those early experiences helped establish a lasting connection to the camp and its mission of providing opportunities for people of all ages to grow in their relationship with Jesus Christ.

Experience and Leadership

Eric brings a wealth of experience from a career that has taken him around the world. He holds a Ph.D. in anthropology, spent sixteen years living and working in China, and has a decade of experience managing study abroad programs.

He previously served as Executive Director of Global Mission for the Church of the Brethren, working alongside sister churches around the world. Most recently, Eric served as Executive Director of DreamWrights Center for Community Arts in York, Pennsylvania, where he continued his work in nonprofit leadership and community engagement.

His combination of executive experience, commitment to Christian service, and understanding of Camp Swatara's mission makes him well-suited to lead the organization into its next chapter.

Building on a Strong Foundation

As Executive Director, Eric will provide leadership for the full scope of Camp Swatara's ministry, including staff development, financial stewardship, property and facilities, organizational operations, and long-term planning.

For more than 80 years, Camp Swatara has provided a place where individuals, families, churches, and groups can step away from the demands of everyday life, experience God's creation, build meaningful relationships, and deepen their faith.

Through its family campground, retreat facilities, summer camp, and year-round programs, Camp Swatara continues to welcome and serve thousands of people each year.

The Board of Trustees is deeply grateful for the seven years of leadership and service provided by former Executive Director Tim Courtright. His creativity, innovative spirit, dedication, and servant's heart have made a meaningful contribution to Camp Swatara's ministry. Alongside the faithful commitment of staff, volunteers, donors, churches, and supporters, Tim's leadership has helped Camp Swatara grow, embrace new possibilities, and prepare for the opportunities ahead.

Looking Ahead with Hope and Excitement

Camp Swatara's mission remains unchanged: to provide opportunities in the natural setting for persons of all ages to grow in their relationship with Jesus Christ, so that they may live their lives for Him in total discipleship.

As we look to the future, we believe Eric's experience, leadership, and commitment to Christian ministry will help Camp Swatara build upon its strong foundation while embracing new opportunities for ministry and community outreach.
