While Camp Swatara hires a substantial number of staff each summer, the many hands of volunteers also help to make the ministry of camp possible. Every summer over 100 volunteers donate their time and energy to the good work of Camp Swatara. We have options for many different ages, interests and abilities. Please consider volunteering at camp this summer.

You can read about the various opportunities below and if you find something you would be interested in doing, you may download a volunteer form from this website. Visit the tab labeled "forms" under our home tab and download the volunteer brochure. There is a form included that you may then fill out and send back to the offices. We would love to have each of you participate in the ministry of Camp Swatara to help us give the campers yet another successful summer.

Weekly Director

• Help recruit counselors.
• Plan evening activities & supervise the week.
• Share your faith & be a role model.

Resource Counselor

• Assist the director with "all camp" activities.
• Use your skills to create & lead lessons.
  (Bible, nature, arts & crafts, OLS, music)
   

Cabin Counselor

• Live with campers 24 hours a day.
• Share your faith. Be a friend, listener, & supervisor.
• Help plan & carry out small group activities.
   

Camp Grandparent

• Be a friend to campers.
• Share special talents & interests.
• Assist counselors and directors as needed.
   

Counselor In Training (CIT)

• Live with campers & counselors 24 hours a day.
• Assist & learn from counselors.
• Must be 16 or 17 & work with a junior camp.
   

Camp Nurse

• RN, EMT, LPN
• Provide medical & emotional care for campers.
• Dispense medicine as prescribed.
• Assist with Sunday registration.
   

Assistant Cook

• Help prepare meals for campers.
• Help with meal clean up & dishes.
• Work either 6 am-1 pm or 1pm-7 pm.
• Interact positively with camp programming during time off.
   

Housekeeping or Maintenance Assistant

• Help with upkeep & general camp maintenance.
• Serve a day, a week, or more.
